My yoga journey began with a niggling feeling that started in my early twenties. It was a feeling that there was something else I should to be doing with my life but I didn't know what it was or how to take action. I tried to ignore it until the feelings were so strong and I was so unhappy that I knew something had to change. 

After some research and a whole lot of trusting my gut, I decided to embark on a 3-month solo trip to Costa Rica where, largely by chance, I discovered yoga, meditation and Ayurveda (the ancient Indian holistic healing system). Before my trip I decided to take part in a 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreat, my family and friends thought I was crazy because I had never really meditated before, but it changed the way I think about myself and the world forever (you can read more about my experience here). Yoga was offered as a part of the surf retreat I was on & I was given a book on Ayurveda whilst researching medicinal plants at an eco-lodge. The ancient yogic wisdom resonated with me so strongly that I knew this was what I had come away to learn. I later realised that the niggling feeling was my internal voice, my intuition or higher self, it plunged me into the darkness to guide me towards the light and changed the trajectory of my life.

 

Fast forward to today and my yoga and meditation practice have given me the framework to understand and appreciate life. I feel physically and mentally stronger, it has taught me so much about who I am as a person and enhanced my relationship with others and the planet. My training includes a 200hr Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga certification with Yoga London & a 300hr Foundation in Yoga Therapy with Vedansha, India. I've even completed a second Vipassana retreat! I'm constantly learning, through teaching and practising yoga and have lots more plans for training, including studying Ayurveda next year. You can download my yoga CV by clicking here.
